Chinatown Transportation Research and Improvement Project (TRIP) is a volunteer advocacy group made up of residents, workers, and interested individuals seeking to maintain and enhance public transit, traffic flow, and pedestrian safety in and around Chinatown.

VISION

TRIP advocates for the needs of the community through neighborhood meetings, surveys, face to face interactions, and field work. TRIP engages governmental agencies, community stakeholders, and private transit-related companies to express the needs of the community and provide input on current and upcoming projects. TRIP uses technical planning expertise and strong community framework to drive this advocacy work.

FOUNDING STORY

TRIP was formed during the City Employees Strike of 1976 when Chinese bus drivers volunteered to shuttle Chinatown elderly to their appointments. TRIP, along with other volunteer groups in Chinatown, founded what is now known as the Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC).
